火博体育 Mpox According to 的 Centers for Disease Control 和 Prevention (CDC), Mpox is a rare viral infection caused by 的 Mpox virus, a virus in 的 same family as 的 virus that causes smallpox. The symptoms are most often mild.

症状

Mpox symptoms usually start within 6-13 days of exposure, but can take up to 21 days 出现. Most people with Mpox will get a rash or sores that may be located on 的 h和s, feet, chest, face, around 的 genitals, or inside 的 body including 的 mouth, 阴道或肛门. The rash can look like pimples or blisters 和 goes through several stages, including scabs, before healing. (见 例子 of Mpox rash on CDC website.)

O的r symptoms of Mpox can include:

• 发热
• 头疼
• Muscle aches 和 backache
• 淋巴结肿大
• 发冷
• 乏力
• Respiratory symptoms (sore throat, nasal congestion, cough)

These symptoms may occur before or after 的 onset of 的 characteristic rash or sores or may not occur at all. If a person develops flu-like symptoms with Mpox, 的y will typically develop a rash 1-4 days later.

The illness is usually mild, although 的 sores can be painful or itchy. 基于 previous outbreaks of Mpox around 的 world, some groups may be at increased risk for more severe symptoms, including children under 8 years of age, pregnant people, 和 those with suppressed immune systems.

传输

Mpox can 传播 through close, personal, often skin-to-skin contact, including:

• Direct contact with a Mpox rash or scabs
• 联系 with respiratory secretions during prolonged face-to-face contact or during intimate physical contact. Please note that it does not linger in 的 air 和 is not thought to be transmitted during short periods of shared air space.

Infected individuals can 传播 Mpox to o的rs from 的 time symptoms start until 的 rash has fully healed 和 a fresh layer of skin has formed. 这种病很典型 持续2-4周.

Who is at risk for Mpox?

Anyone can get Mpox, regardless of gender identity 和 sexual orientation.  在 United States, Mpox has 传播 primarily through sexual contact. However, Mpox is not a sexually transmitted disease 和 sexual contact is only one of many ways 的 virus can 传播.

卫生服务 is partnering with 的 Saratoga County Department of Health to test, isolate 和 treat students with symptoms of Mpox 和/or known exposure. 学生将 be evaluated in person by a clinician 和 anyone with skin lesions consistent with Mpox will be tested 和 moved into isolation to await test results, which currently take about 3-5 days to receive.

Anyone who identifies as at risk for mpox is eligible for 的 JYNNEOS vaccine.
